weaving....

we wove in art, with little cardboard looms,  it was quite soothing. essay number one was handed in today, which was quite nice...this is weird, but kind of tempting as a knitting project.. there was no gossip girl last night, so I was deprived of my blogggy synopsis reading, and itunes messed up with savage love's now instalment and posted the old one again.

this is soothing yet creepy. and there's felt!

and there's plenty more where this armoured penguin came from....muhahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

just finished the blind assassin, i kind of liked it, despite our atwood bashing...

also, rest in peace, john updike.  even though you went downhill. after all, you can't spell sexiest without sexist

home again home again jiggity jig...

it's not just sis!!! look!!
that's also really gross and worrying, especially  the wormlike thing. i hope that never comes to pass (taking down the guinea calendar, for fear of miss december's effect on the troops) also because january's almost over...this is the calendar i deserve!!

Finished house of mirth instead of essay, and now i has a sad.

to market to market!

to buy a fat pig...see you early in the morning? almost finished essay the first, essay the second is being a little bitch.
saw milk last night, sean penn was really likeable in it, which is odd because he was sean penn. it made me cry, and predict bad things for barack obama..."historical precendents a go-go" I cried, as the boy tried to stop me from standing on the sofa to address my public ( the guineas).
Reading "the house of mirth". it is not a barrel of laughs, but I loves the edith wharton. Kind of want to see the film, now. because gillian anderson is quite close to how lily looks in my head.
Also, yesterday I was convinced that sisyphus was guinorexic , as he refused delicious carrot. repeatedly. He did nom hay though, so I'm pretty over my worry...although the boy is out with a shopping list that includes his favourite veggies, by way of a bribe...(I may be turning into my mother, thank god they're not real children!!) William likes to eat toilet roll now. He popcorns for it, i put the roll on the top of his cage and he pulls it down and chews some of it and eats some of it. what a delightful fellow he is.
Also this week we got a hatstand  and it's AMAZING. I have 4 coats in dublin and i can see them all, and select which one is best suited to the day. Also the boy has a very willy lomanesque hat, which hangs upon it, so I can dust it off and smile like a good little woman.

see how he glistens?

agh...how much do I love love love this man? i'm three episodes behind, but they will be in tonight, and I will finish my man's black and dark grey stripy birthday scarf of varying textures, and I will eat beans on toast and read scary stories, because I have finished Amy Hempel and am sad because of it (would have liked her work more in 4 little books i think, because had a short sentence overload by the end of the volume) and also the victoriana website made me yearn for quaint and sinister things i can't afford, like oddments and whatnots.
And finally, an art form i can get excited about. It is the sex. As opposed to this, which is the celibacy. or maybe I'm just not open-minded enough to celebrate my femininity with ewwwwy abandon.

I'll defend your honor, miladies...

as long as you make with the brocoli, that is.

also, poe , useless 'ethical' crap that made me snort.

( i kind of want this though)

and this made me sooo angry i ate two pains au chocolat in quick sucession.

hope your tooth is better, the boy has one of these, but won't go to see a dentist because 'it might go away after a while' (hmmmm...)

also, austen sex. can't decide whether or not I'm glad this exists.

romancing the phone...

saw  revolutionary road, it was a 'faithful adaptation', but not much more than that, maybe because i liked the book and only read it so recently. kate winslet is migh'y in it though, they're both such douches. grr. if only they had had cheap ryanair flights back in  the day, eh? anyhoo was in need of some pre-sleep happys, so read me some cover snarks and found this and this. Kelly link is good, but not living up to my expectations (which were sky high, thanks to all the gush on the cover, and in the extra leaflet of gush enclosed in the book).

also cuteness but i got way too involved and worried that they would ultimately betray each other. I certainly wouldn't encourage my boys in this kind of friendship.

stone baby is not like stone fox, or even stone phillips.

yes, yes, leave the babies in the wombs i say! although not for too long...because baaad things can happen...

also, you might be getting more bang for your (star) buck when you buy coffee... is it strange that the weirdest thing for me is that people still use the word co-eds ?

and not to be outdone...

found this in chapters while buying a poker set for johnny, (who apparently has weekly poker nights with his cronies. teens these days, eh? all that's missing is the bathtub gin. )
and finished this on the bus home, while feeling entirely too warm for my own good.

and if you ever wanted to have stays to bust in a fit of suppressed passion, now's your chance!!

waits needs this...it's foppish and 'be suitable a middle class person'

guinea PIGS...

well...he's got my vote

worked up sew sexual.

william looking handsome, my sewing machine and new red teapot!! Still can't sew, but maybe if I breed the jones with my guinea pig, i'll get the mice who can stitch from the tailor of gloucester......

I've been busy

just finished this today, and now reeeeeally want to see the movie, to make tutting noises, or appreciative noises as i see fit.

also read poison penmanship , thank you so much for lending it to me, full of the decca love now.

also, this is really bizarre. saw the movie over the weekend. did NOT see this reaction coming.

the walrus and the guinea pig

pretty clothes  and polaroids. also sisyphus has a new friend. they met at salsa.

sysiphus is an ebony god.

see how he glistens. behold!!

A proposition?

just watched a movie nick cave wrote, it was beautiful and violent and gothic and western and australian and had emily watson in it. and now i can't sleep, so heeeeere's william being humiliated (and not for the first, or sadly, the last time)

squeaky clean..

hello, i just finished one of the 5,0000 assignments due in the next couple of weeks. mostly because it's due tomorrow. i have no motivation whatsoever. but i have a cute pin up girl on an ugly stool for you. Reading Rona Jaffe's the best of everything at the moment...just begun, but it's all 50s and adorable and perfect for a post-assignment sunday armchair be-blanketed snuggle.
oooh and I read the looking glass by michéle roberts, it's the eighth book of hers I've read and it was soo pretty. and hughes and hughes earned my wrath this weekend, because their vouchers you got by spending 30 euro can only be used when spending at least that amount again. fat fat bastards.

also, the guineas have a new box, with a picture of an old fashioned coffee grinder on it, they hide in it sometimes, but mostly they perch on it, surveying their territory.

this is cute, especially the NPH and cho....

this man makes my heart sing...

have been watching lots of stolen gossip girl of late, mostly because of the delightful recaps this gentleman provides...it is ridiculously tacky and there are punches thrown and gowns disarrayed and the love that dare not speak it's name, it blossoms sometimes between dan and nate...and i do mean 'blossoms' heh. (you have to read between the lines). also jenny humphrey has irritating puppy-face, and goes through things, boobless and wobble mouthed. (i am jealous because she can work her sewing machine with aplomb. but only because she's fictional because those things are frustrating and pointy in places, much like the cast of gossip girl themselves)
and vanessa sometimes says ethnic things, and wears beeg hoop earrings because she has the puerto-rican blood. oh djes. (i've met sliced pans that were browner. white sliced pans)

it makes him feel less important...

from feministing, i give thee a video on how to be a not-slut.

GUINEA PIGS...

have been cutting the men's nails. they are most displeased and have left livid scratches all over my arms, which is exactly why they needed their nails cut in the first place.

also in guinea news, the movie i should have written.

hmmmm....

i don't want to go back to school tomorrow. i'm used to getting a healthy 12 hours sleep each night.

I have two cats now.

they sit outside our glass door, demanding milk (in a china cup with brown and mustard flowers on it) and bits of rasher. one of them is black and white and conjunctivitisy, and if you show him string, he retreats to a safe distance and does this whole bit where he plays with imaginary string and purrs. the second cat only arrived this morning. he looks like this (see left) and is precious, if slightly wary and demanding (he wanted milk before he'd touch his rasher bit.)

also kate atkinson has a new book? why wasn't i informed?!

nerdy quiz

which persephone book did proper miss find in chapters today for a paltry five euro? answers via postcard please....

interview with the guineapire...

this is the only costume i can see sisyphus taking a shine to..he has been biting william quite a bit, he has a gash that's like a centimetre long. i never catch him at it though because he's stealthy. the sewing machine still eludes me. I've got it going, but the stitches  aren't working, even though the machine is making all the right movements and sounds. it's horrid. also there is no manual for it on the internets. grrr.... on the plus side the boy got my last present in the post today, a brown small doctor style bag. it thrills me, and fits several books...xo

sew sad

my jones vx561 is being a little bitch...do you know how the bobbin/thread on top dichotomy works? can't find the manual, or any instructions that make sense online. eek. have you read new pirates yet? xo
